If you have ever dreamed of Samuel L. Jackson shouting at you to wake you up in the morning, Amazon’s Alexa has you covered.
Amazon announced in Seattle this Wednesday at their annual hardware exhibition that the actor’s voice would be the first celebrity voice added to Alexa. Users can get the upgrade for just $0.99, making it accessible for almost anybody. With the upgrade, you can talk to Samuel just like you would regular old Alexa: Ask what the weather is, tell him to wake you up in the morning, or even ask him a fun fact about himself.
The actor, of course, is known for his famous one-liners and his profanity. Amazon knows this, and they don’t want to taint the authenticity. They also don’t want someone’s toddler hearing him say “mother*****r.” So they have added a feature where you can opt in to either a clean or explicit version, which you can modify at any time.
This feature is expected to launch later this year, and rumor has it that more celebrity voices will be joining the lineup in 2020.
This announcement came with the introduction of several other updates and additions to the virtual personal assistant at the exhibition, such as wireless Echo Buds, a tricked out speaker, and an Alexa Smart Oven.
