It seems that Tesla has been struggling a bit recently with CEO Elon Musk asking suppliers for refunds in order to get a positive profit for Tesla. After this, Tesla seemed to besearching for waysto turn things around. The company recently began selling limited-edition surfboards.
The surfboards went on sale on Saturday and were priced at $1500 and take between 2 to 10 weeks for delivery. Tesla only produced 200 surfboards, which led to them being completely sold out by Sunday afternoon. Now, if customers want a Tesla surfboard, theywill have to purchase one on eBay, where they can expect to pay anywhere from $2000 to $5000.
According to Ben Tobin of USA Today, “Tesla stated the surfboard has a mix of the ‘same high-quality matte and gloss finishes used on all of our cars’ and its Model S, X and 3 cars can accommodate the surfboard inside or outside the vehicle.
An automotive company selling surfboards is definitely not ordinary, but it is not the first random item that Tesla has sold. The companyalso sellsmerchandise such as shirts, hats, and miniature ride-in cars for kids.
