We all know TikTok for its trendy video content, but now it’s entering a new market. TikTok announced that it has collaborated with delivery service, Postmates, to bring its audience “TikTok Treats.” These treats will be the first ever creator-led menu, which will feature four of the most popular foods that originated on TikTok. The only problem is, it will only be available in the Los Angeles area until November 22nd.
The reason behind this partnership is to showcase the creativity that has launched TikTok into being one of the best social media platforms. I mean really, almost everyone uses it! Ever wanted to try pancake cereal? It’s a real thing and now you can, by ordering it exclusively on the Postmates app. The menu will also include cloud bread, bento box, and whipped coffee. These have been the most popular food creations on TikTok, so it’s no surprise they’d be picked.
So why launch this now? Well, ever since the start of the pandemic delivery services have increased in sales. As for TikTok, it saw an increase in users, making others think short video content was the next big thing, sorry Quibi. So, let’s break this down. Everyone was (or still is) stuck at home, thus ordering a lot more take-out than usual. People also started binge-watching more shows and watching/creating TikToks. It’s important to note, that TikToks not only stay on that platform, but they also make their way to other platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
I wouldn’t have picked a better time for the launch of TikTok Treats. It lets the user experience TikTok and food in a whole new way, especially during the pandemic. And it gives consumers more motivation to continue using the app. Who knows maybe one day their food could be a TikTok Treat?
Although this new trend of bringing what you see on a screen right to your doorsteps will only last until November 22nd, I don’t think this is the end. We may see this become a new norm, and even expand to other parts of the country. I mean come on, who doesn’t want pancake cereal?
